Summary of 2022, IKF Malmö

2022 has been a fast-paced year for IKF and all the amazing women who have participated in our study circles and projects. IKF was nominated for the Swedish Gender Equality Award 2023.

All the knowledge and social contacts and joy, all the experiences and drive created - have resulted in inclusion and well-being and led to new collaborations and networks and perhaps most importantly - to studies and jobs for our participating women. Below is a brief summary of some of the work we have done during the year. We look forward to having our valued members with us in the coming years too!

STUDY CIRCLES:

After the pandemic, we noticed that our participants are now coming back to us and are more active than ever. We have made study visits to IKEA and Noah's Ark, and Mosaik has come and given appreciated lectures on HIV and sexual health. The cooking group has also gotten started and prepared many delicious recipes. During the autumn, focus groups have been held with circle participants on gender equality on the initiative of the Gender Equality Authority. One day a week the participants also had the opportunity to become circle leaders. They have been given IKF's circle leader material and have prepared their own lessons, which the women have found both stimulating and instructive.

This year has seen the start of the labor-oriented study circle "Children and Young People". As a result, many of the department participants have gone on to internships and/or jobs in early childhood education. The second labor-oriented study circle "Care and Health" has continued with good results in getting more women into the labor market in the care field. Out of 9 participants, 4 have found jobs, 3 have gone on to training and 1 has found an internship.

PROJECT:

In the "Alla Har Talang!" project, young people have had an incredible journey this year. They have been trained in entrepreneurship, appointed as democracy ambassadors, and finally planned the big event Malmö Youth Forum 2022 which created positive networks among young people.

The project "Bakgrund till Framtiden" ended in Dec 2022. The labor market-oriented project has had amazing results as 48% of the 82 participants have found a job, and 51% have gone on to study. All the methods and networks that we developed during the project will be used in the continued work to include more foreign-born women in the labor market. Please watch the appreciated video we produced in the framework of the project, coming early next year on IKF's youtube channel.

Erasmus+ projects: Cordoba, Lisbon, Bucharest, and Thessaloniki were some of the destinations that IKF traveled to through the Erasmus plus projects 2022. IKF Malmö is currently involved in the implementation of 7 European projects, all related to gender equality and inclusion. We are proud to announce that we are working with over 42 organizations in Europe, all working towards making a difference!

Together with the organization Hela Människan, we have started a project on reverse mentoring for single mothers born outside the EU. The OMDU project aims to raise awareness and knowledge about inclusion and gender equality by having women mentor leaders in both the private and public sectors. The project is implemented with a grant from the Swedish Gender Equality Agency.

Inclusion was a shorter project that ran from October to December and focused on providing Ukrainian women with a context and supporting them on their way into Swedish society and the labor market. The 18 women who participated in the project can join the usual activities at IKF after the end of the project.

IKF-PODCAST:
"Women in the World" is the name of IKF's own podcast, which was started during the year by board members Anna-Karin Herbert and Douha Kermani. The podcast discusses social issues, gender equality, and democracy with interesting guests. Listen to the podcast here: Women in the World (buzzsprout.com) or on Spotify.

FUTURE PROJECTS: Lokal Valuta: one of Malmö's largest and most forward-looking shopping centers. Handpicked women from IKF. A Spanish professor of economics. Together we are creating a unique project where a so-called local currency circulates and leads to inclusion, socio-economic added value, and new insights. The ball is rolling; more to follow!

Framtiden tillhör alla: creativity, curiosity, and imagination has no age. Our dreams are eternal! The future belongs to everyone is the name of our new senior project, which aims to break the loneliness and engage women 65+ who want to find new and exciting things together. Do you know a senior who wants to or do you want to get away from home and meet other nice women? Get in touch at info@ikf.se.

Mammakraft - The Labor Market and Social Affairs Committee enters into an Ideas-based Public Partnership (IOP) with us at IKF on the course Mammakraft. Through Mammakraft, mothers of teenagers will have the opportunity to talk to each other and take part in lectures from family counselors, school counselors, police, psychologists, and social workers. There is an opportunity to discuss concerns such as child custody, parenting, and violent extremism.

On our social media, we post weekly about what is happening in the association. Please follow us there if you don't already to keep up to date.
