Framtiden Tillhör Alla

Loneliness among the elderly is an increasing societal challenge, and immigrant women over the age of 65 are particularly at high risk of becoming isolated. Many of these women have limited social networks, lack natural meeting places, and may face language or cultural barriers that hinder their integration into society.

The project The Future Belongs to Everyone has demonstrated that loneliness can be overcome through targeted efforts and by creating safe, social environments where women can come together, connect, and grow.

The project is funded by Allmänna Arvsfonden and run by Internationella Kvinnoföreningen i Malmö (IKF Malmö) in collaboration with Malmö International Rotary ClubStudieförbundet Vuxenskolan Malmö and Boomcom.se

Throughout the project, over 90 women have regularly participated in activities such as theater, dance, watercolor painting, excursions, and choir singing - all designed to boost self-esteem and foster social connections.

”I decided to dance in the rain"

When the words come directly from the participants, the impact of the project becomes clear. Here is a story from a woman who found courage, purpose, and community through the project:

“Loneliness means an inner conflict in my life. I want to enjoy life while dealing with it. I can cry through the storm or dance in the rain. I chose to dance in the rain by reaching out to the IKF Malmö. Thank you!”

Over 90 Women Meet Every Week – Building Community Across Three Locations in Malmö
Each week, an average of 90 women come together to take part in Framtiden Tillhör Alla. At three locations in Malmö - Möllevången, Nydala, and the City Centre, safe and vibrant spaces are created where women over 65 have the opportunity to form new friendships, express themselves creatively, and be part of a meaningful social community.

Meeting regularly and connecting with others in similar life situations has made a profound difference in the lives of many participants. Together, they are building a warm and supportive environment where no one has to feel alone.
