Building Digital Skills and Empowering Communities

This September, the SOUL-Food Project reached an important milestone in developing its 10-module training curriculum, designed to help migrant women gain culinary, digital, and citizenship skills.

Blending Learning: Online & In-Person
The curriculum combines online and in-person learning, offering a flexible, inclusive approach to education. Digital skills open doors, and the curriculum gives participants the confidence to step through them.

Focusing on Digital Confidence
A key focus of the training is on digital skills and communication, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate the modern digital world safely and effectively. 

Through practical exercises and interactive learning, participants are gaining essential competencies, including using smartphones and apps, managing online communication, understanding digital safety, and presenting themselves professionally online. The training also emphasises critical thinking, privacy awareness, and the recognition of online risks, helping learners develop a responsible and empowered digital presence.

Designed for Everyone 
Designed by a diverse, interdisciplinary team, the curriculum reflects a commitment to inclusivity, adaptability, and sustainability, ensuring that it meets the needs of a wide range of participants and cultural backgrounds.

Piloting & Next Steps
In the coming months, the full curriculum will be piloted with small groups, offering hands-on, supportive learning experiences that connect food, digital literacy, and civic engagement. This integrated approach demonstrates how digital skills, combined with practical and cultural knowledge, can foster confidence, independence, and stronger community ties.
